Nelahozeves – A Renaissance pearl in Central Bohemia

The château, situated above a small village on the banks of the Vltava river, is one of the most notable Renaissance buildings in Czechia. In addition to the original furnishings, visitors will enjoy seeing several paintings by old masters from the château collections.

The history of Nelahozeves Château dates from the 16th century. The Renaissance building was very advanced and comfortable for its time, so there was never a need for major modifications or rebuilding work. The castle façade is impressively ornate with numerous decorative elements and sgraffitos depicting ancient mythology and old-testament scenes.  The château is now back in the hands of its original owners – the princely family Lobkowicz, and houses their rich art collections.
